إزالة معلومات

مرحباً حلموني، لماذا تقوم بإزالة اسم رئيس البلدية وفترته والنص المتعلق به من هذه المقالات روس (الراين الأسفل) ودويسانس. --زاهر ^نقاش 15:14، 28 مارس 2014 (ت ع م)

• أهلاً بك، هي معلومة هامشية ولكن وجودها أفضل من عدم وجودها، وفي الفترة الأخيرة أنا أضيفها إلى القالب فقط وتوقفت عن إضافتها ضمن نص المقالة، لكن مشكلة تحديث هذه المعلومات ليست مشكلتي ولا مشكلتك بل هي مشكلة نظام ميدياويكي وهناك ما هو أهم من هذه المعلومة سيحتاج التحديث لاحقاً، مثل عدد السكان وسنة الإحصاء. وفي مقالات سير الأحياء الذين توفوا فتجد في ويكيبيديا الإنكليزية أو .. أنه متوفي بتاريخ كذا وفي ويكيبيديا العربية مازال على قيد الحياة ويوجد أمثلة كثيرة أخرى. ولذلك هي مشكلة عامة تخص جميع المقالات تقريباً. ولكن هناك بوادر أمل بعد إنشاء ويكي بيانات وتضمين المعلومات فيه ربما سيوجد طريقة أو بوت يقوم بهذا التحديث ولكن هذا مجرد أمل حالياً. --زاهر ^نقاش 17:52، 31 مارس 2014 (ت ع م)

رد لون خلفة مقالة

اهلا بك اخي لكن في الحقيقة ليتك نبهتني بذلك مبكراً لكن هل دليل الاسلوب غير قابل لتطوير واذا كان هناك فكرة جديدة سوف تساهم في تحسين مظهر الموسوعة وتخفف من الأضرار الناجمة عن لون الخلفية البيضاء السابقة،،،، في الحقيقة ان اللون الابيض لون مشع وهو يتسبب بأضرار كثيرة ويساهم في تسريع عملية اضعاف البصر للانسان كل يوم اكثر فأكثر وخاصة للمستخدمين الذين يظلون وقتاً طويلاً في الموسوعة سواء كانوا اداريين او محررين وهذا امر يجعلني كمحرر مثلاً اتقاعس أحيان عن قرائه ومراجعة المقالات الطويلة بسبب ان الخلفية البيضاء المعتمدة منذ السابق لدى الموسوعة هي خلفية مشعة اكثر من اللاازم فماهو المانع في ان نتاقش جميعاً لكي نختار خلفية جديدة تكون واضحة وقليلة الأشعاع لكي نحافظ جميعا على اعيننا فالبصر اغلى شئ لدى الانسان وضعفة او فقدانه ليس بالامر السهل الذي يجعلنا نتجاهل مثل ذلك الامر بل يجب علينا ان نضع ونتخذ اجرات تخفف عنا جميعاُ اضرار خلفية اللون الابيضاء المشع ،،، اخي العزيز مثلاً قم بأختيار مقالة طويلة وقرائها بلون الخلفية البيضاء السابقة ثم قم باعادة قراتها بعد ان تقوم بوضع قالب لون الخلفية الجديدة ولاحظ الفرق في مدى شعور بصرك بالهدوء مع لون الخلفية الجديدة ,,,,طبعا لون الخلفية الجديدة يمكن مناقشته مع بقية الزملاء فربما يكون لديهم اقتراح افضل حول تحديد لون خلفية ((طبي)) يساهم في تحسين مظهر الموسوعة من جانب ومن جانب اخر يساهم في الحفاظ على اعين وبصر جميع المسجلين والعاملين في الموسوعة ومن ثم اطلاق القالب الجديد عبر بوت لكي يغير جميع المقالات باللون الجديد ،،، النظر شئ غالي ياشباب فيجب علينا جميعاً ان لا نتساهل بمثل ذلك الامر فالعمل هنا تطوعي ولا يعود على أحد حتى بمقابل زهيد يوفر له قيمة نظارة اذا احتاج الى نظارة تساعده على الرؤية --عمار اليماني ^{أضغط هنا لمراسلتي} 18:01، 9 أبريل 2014 (ت ع م)

بخصوص تعديلات البوت

شكرا لك على الانتباه للأمر. أود فقط أن أعلمك أن تعديلات البوت شملت فقط قائمة من المقالات قمت بمراجعتها شخصيا. قد يكون فاتني أمر بعضها وهذا وارد، لكن على العموم الأمر كان تحت السيطرة. بودي أيضا أن أبرز وجهة نظري حول وضع قالب بوابة الجزائر :

• في مقالات مثل :
  • طائر : ما المشكل طالما أن الطائريعيش في الجزائر.
  • غدامس : كانت المدينة الليبية الوحيدة التي شملتها التعديلات كونها مدينة حدودية مهمة للبلدين.
• ومن جهة اخرى، فإن غياب الإشارة إلى بوابات قد تكون أكثر اتصالات بالموضوع يمنع ربطها ببوابات أخرى ذات علاقة وأقل اتصالا.

عمل البوت كان محصورا في المقالات المتعلقة بالجزائر، وقد أنهى عمله. أنتظر ردود الفعل وموافقة الزملاء حول إمكانية تعميم الأمر على غيرها من البوابات. أكرر الشكر وأكون ممنونا إذا أعلمتني بما لديك من تحفظات أخرى حول تعديلات البوت الأخيرة. --- مع تحياتي ---(أدلي برأيك في التصويت الجاري)-- وهراني 13:16، 14 أبريل 2014 (ت ع م)

فقط أذكرك أنني لم أستعمل التصنيف مباشرة وإلا فإن التغييرات تكون قد سببت سخطا لدى الجميع. ومن جهة أخرى فإن ما تقوم به بوتات نقل التصانيف المعادلة لا يخلو من الخطأ. أما عن مراجعة المقالات، فإن الإشارة لبوابة الجزائر وإن كانت (فرضا) في غير محلها فإنها لا تغير في المضمون المقالة وتكون سهلة الحذف مثلها مثل التصنيف. --- مع تحياتي ---(أدلي برأيك في التصويت الجاري)-- وهراني 14:09، 14 أبريل 2014 (ت ع م)

فارس الظلام

مرحباً أخي الكريم، نحن لم نعد نستخدم أسلوب تسمية الأفلام هكذا "فارس الظلام (فيلم)" بل فقط نسميه "فارس الظلام" دون إضافة "(فيلم)" الى العنوان إلا في حالة وجود مقالة لها نفس اسم مقالة الفيلم فعندها نضع "(فيلم)" بجانب العنوان للتميز. هذا الأمر هو السائد في ويكي الإنكليزية أيضاً ومتفق عليه بين أعضاء فريق السينما العالمية--Jake Muller (نقاش) 07:48، 10 مايو 2014 (ت ع م)

رد قالب كومنز

• السلام عليكم الان البوت شغل له يومين على اكثر من الفين مقالة وجدا بطئ ولا اعرف لماذا

1. كود البوت موجود مسبقا بالحقيبة وبدون تحميل منك
2. لا يمر على التصنيفات او الملاحق
3. كل الموسوعة اعتقد امر مستحيل في بوت واحد لابد من بوتين او ثلاثة

لم افهم ماذا يحدث حين يجد البوت قالب كومنز يرابط لتصنيف كومنز مختلف في المقالة ؟ هل يعوض القديم أم لا يضع الجديد ولكن ان تقصد اخطاء او ماشابه انا اتابع كل 10 ساعات تعديلات البوت لرى هل يرتكب اخطاء او لا عموما البوت يضيف قالب كومنز في المقالة حين لا يجد قالب كومنز بالمقالة الانجليزية --خليل (نقاشي) 20:38، 15 مايو 2014 (ت ع م)

مرحبا أخي، عن سؤالك عن لماذا لم يتفطن البوت ل {{بوابة تلفاز}}. فسبب بسيط، البوت لا يحول كل قالب يبدأ بكلمة بوابة إلى شريط البوابات. لأان بعضها مستعمل لغرض آخر مثال : {{بوابة إيطاليا}} - {{بوابة بسيط}}. لهذا فقد أعددت قائمة بالقوالب المعنية وحدث أن قالب تلفزة قد سقط عنها لكنني تداركت الأمر من خلال متابعة تعديلات البوت. شكرا جزيلا على الملاحظات والردود القيمة. --- مع تحياتي ---(أدلي برأيك)-- وهراني 12:38، 22 مايو 2014 (ت ع م)

نقل التصنيفات

مرحبا أخي، نقل التصنيفات أصبح متاحا لغير الإداريين (أعني النقل كصفحة عادية وليس "أداة نقل التصنيفات")، ولكن للأسف عند استخدام النقل للتصنيف كصفحة عادية لا تنتقل صفحات التصنيف للتصنيف الجديد، كما أن التصنيف القديم يصبح تحويلة وليس تحويل تصنيف (كما حدث في تصنيف:أحزاب سياسية في سوريا الآن)، لذلك من الأفضل استخدام أداة نقل التصنيفات المتاحة للإداريين أو معدل التصنيفات، تحياتي --محمد^راسلني 13:31، 21 يونيو 2014 (ت ع م)

أهلين، هذا النوع من المقالات غير مشمول لحد الآن. كونه لا يستعمل {{بوابة}} أو احد قوالب البوابات المفردة الأخرى. والمشكلة مع هذا النوع lk التي تستعمل الشريط أكثر من مرة، هو أنني لم أجد طريقة لايجاد قائمة حصرية لها. ما يجعل السبيل الوحيد لتصحيحها هو مراجعة كل المقالات التي تستعمل شريط البوابات كلها وهذا أمر مكلف. سأسأل بعض الزملاء عن وجود أمكانية أبسط. شكرا على ملاحظاتك القيمة . --- مع تحياتي ---(أدلي برأيك)-- وهراني 16:02، 21 يونيو 2014 (ت ع م)

العزيز حلمي، شكراً لملاحظاتك. المشكلة في تصنيفات كوريا الجنوبية أن النسبة تكون لجزئي الاسم وهذا لا يجعل الأمر مريحاً. لذا فقد نقلت تصنيفات النسب كما رأيت، عندما يكون التصنيف "أشخاص كوريون جنوبيون" فهذا يعني أن الأشخاص هم من كوريا الجنوبية، وهذا هو النهج الذي اتبعته في نقل التصانيف. عندما تقول لاعبو كرة قدم كوريون جنوبيون فهذا يعني أنهم من كوريا الجنوبية ولا تعني أنهم من يلعبون في كوريا الجنوبية حتى لو كانوا من دول أخرى، ما رأيك، هل ترى مشاكل في ذلك؟ --Mervat ^ناقش 17:34، 22 يونيو 2014 (ت ع م)

مرحبا أخي، إليك بعض الردود :

• قمت بتغيير القالب صندوق إلى شريط بوابات في المقالات فقط.
• ادرجت بوابة جغرافيا ضمن نطاق البحث والتغيير. وبالمناسبة سأعمد على وضع القائمة على الموقع وسأمدك بالرابط حتى تتمكن من تحيينها.
• بعض الاقتراحات تتطلب بوت يعمل بشكل دوري، الأمر الذي لا أستطيع فعله مثل تغير كلمة (== External Links ==) أو النقل من النسخة الانجليزية. في الغالب أطلب من زميل يملك بوتا، يقوم بأعمال دورية، القيام بذلك.
• ما يمكنني القيام به يعتمد على النسخة العربية فقط.
• بخصوص اضافة بوابة أعلام فأعتقد أن عدد الصفحات المشمولة سيكون كبيرا ما سيثير حفيظة البعض ان تم ذلك دفعة واحدة. أقترح تقسيم الأمر إلى دفعات. مثلا أن نبدا بالرياضيين.
• أصبحت أتحسس من الأعمال البوتية التي تشمل عدد كبير من المقالات.
• سأراقب صفحة طلبات البوت وأجيب متى ما أمكنني ذلك.

مرحبا، كل عام وأنت بخير. بالنسبة لنقل التصنيفات وترك صفحة للتحويلة. لا زلت لا أعلم ما فائدة ذلك، خاصة في الحالات التي يتم فيها نقل التصنيفات لتصحيح خطأ لغوي مثلاً. ثم أن نقل التصنيفات يتم آلياً باستخدام خيار "نقل التصنيف" ويتم نقل كل الصفحات المرتبطة بالتصنيف وحذف التصنيف القديم تلقائياً، ربما يجب أن نعدله ليقوم بإبقاء الصفحة القديمة ووضع قالب التحويل فيها. هل هذا ممكن؟ --Mervat ^ناقش 15:07، 3 أغسطس 2014 (ت ع م)

• أضيفت آخر إصدارات الميدياويكي (1.24wmf16) إلى جميع الويكيات التجريبية وموقع ميدياويكي (MediaWiki.org) يوم 31 يوليو/تموز. وبسبب مؤتمر ويكيمانيا 2014 سيتم إضافة الإصدار إلى جميع الويكيات غير الويكيبيدية يوم 12 أغسطس/آب وجميع الويكيات الويكيبيدية يوم 14 أغسطس/آب (تقويم). [2]
• يمكنك الآن تجربة أداة جديدة لتصيير صفحات الويكي كملفات ذات امتداد نسق المستندات المنقولة (PDF). [3] [4] [5]

مشاكل

• تعطلت ويكيات ويكي رحلات لما يقارب 45 دقيقة يوم 29 يوليو/تموز نتيجةً لمشكلة في التهيئة (configuration problem). [24]
• لم يتمكن بعض المستخدمين من الولوج إلى ويكيات التجارب (test wikis) وموقع ميدياويكي (MediaWiki.org) بين 31 يوليو/تموز و1 أغسطس/آب. تم إصلاح هذه المشكلة الآن. [25]

Recent software changes

• The latest version of MediaWiki (1.24wmf17) is on test wikis and MediaWiki.org since August 14. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis on August 19, and on all Wikipedias on August 21 (calendar).
• There is a new protection level called superprotection. At the moment, only some Wikimedia Foundation employees have access to it. Administrators can't edit "superprotected" pages. [37] [38] [39]
• You can now create empty pages directly. A message asks you to confirm that you want to create an empty page. [40] [41]
• You can search for Wikimedia tools using a new list of tools. [42]
• You can watch the first videos from Wikimania 2014. Some of them are about technical topics. More videos will come later.

Wikidata

• After August 19, you can use Wikidata for inter language links on Wikinews. [43]
• After August 19, you can use Wikidata for badges like "good" or "featured" articles. Next week, you will be able to show the badges in the article sidebar on Wikipedia, Wikisource and Wikiquote. [44]

Problems

• There was an issue with ProofreadPage and WikiEditor on Wikisource wikis. It is now fixed. [45] [46]

Recent software changes

• You can now test a new Beta Feature to see links to other wikis in the sidebar. The links come from Wikidata. [53] [54]
• You can now search pages that link to a page. Use the linksto: keyword in your search. [55] [56]
• A redirect to a section now changes the URL in the address bar of your browser. If "Dog" redirects to "Animals#Dog", you now see "Animals#Dog" instead of "Dog#Dog". [57] [58]
• If you are testing Flow, you now have a Flow tab in your Notifications. It is called "Messages". [59]

VisualEditor news

• You can no longer delete required fields in templates. [60]
• We fixed many Internet Explorer bugs. If you use Internet Explorer 11, you will get VisualEditor next week. Support for earlier versions is coming next. [61] [62] [63]

• We fixed a bug where some of your typing could be undone when you used "cut" (Ctrl+X). [65]

• New users are randomly chosen for a test on 12 Wikipedias. They get messages with ideas of articles to edit. The ideas come from what they have already edited. [80]

• The citation tool no longer offers to reuse a citation if there are none on the page yet. [83] [84]

Problems

• There was a problem on the English Wikipedia on September 19. It was due to edits on a template used on many pages.
• Sites were down for users in the Pacific area around 7:00 UTC on September 20. It was due to a problem in the San Francisco data center.
• There were two bad bugs messing up articles in some browsers in VisualEditor. We fixed the bugs and updated the sites. [90] [91]

Software changes this week

• The new version of MediaWiki (1.24wmf22) is on test wikis and MediaWiki.org since September 18. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis on September 23, and on all Wikipedias on September 25 (calendar).
• If you have more than 2000 notifications, the oldest ones will be removed.[92] [93]
• In the "Vector" skin, the icon used for users will show a neutral gender. [94] [95]
• The VisualEditor template tool now tells you if a required field is missing. [96]
• The "Cancel" button of the VisualEditor save window is now called "Resume editing". This shows that you can still edit and you won't lose your changes. [97]
• There are new keyboard shortcuts in VisualEditor. Use Ctrl+Shift+6 for code and Ctrl+Shift+5 for strikethrough. [98] [99]
• In VisualEditor, you can now see that you are switching to the source editing mode. Before, it was not clear it was happening. [100]

Future site changes

• Errors from Scribunto (Lua) are now shown on the page. Before, you had to click on "Script error" to see them. [105] [106]
• You can add an "autovalue" for a field in TemplateData. When users add the template to a page, the value will be added automatically. An example is when a clean-up template shows the date it was added. [107]
• If you change a user preference but don't save it, it now asks if you want to save it. [108] [109]
• The PDF export tool has changed. The new one has better language support but it doesn't offer ZIM and EPUB formats. [110]

Recent changes

• You can use the phab: and phabricator: interwikis to link to https://phabricator.wikimedia.org. [112] [113]
• Some wikis have a template to track bugs in Bugzilla. You should update it to work with Phabricator. You can look at the one on mediawiki.org to see how. [114] [115]
• You can look at Special:MediaStatistics to see what kind of files are on your wiki. [116]
• A new tool can now create thumbnails of large TIFF images. This concerns files larger than 50 megapixels. These thumbnails are also sharpened. You can comment on Commons. [117]
• The Media Viewer tool has a clearer link to the file page. It also has buttons to download, share and embed the file. You can enlarge images by clicking on them. [118]

Changes this week

• The new version of MediaWiki (1.25wmf2) has been on test wikis and MediaWiki.org since 2 October. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis from 7 October, and on all Wikipedias from 9 October (calendar).
• If you make a code mistake when editing a Lua script, you won't be able to save your edit. [119] [120]
• We fixed some more Internet Explorer bugs. If you use Internet Explorer 10, you will be able to use VisualEditor next week. Support for earlier versions is coming next. [121]
• On Thursday, the tool to edit TemplateData will come to 30 more wikis. [122] [123]
• You can help sort bugs in the Book and PDF export tool on October 8. [124]
• 1% of logged-out readers are getting pages from servers that run the HHVM tool. HHVM should make pages load faster. [125]

File information cleanup

• You can join a wiki project to help tools read file information. It will help people reuse files.
• See how to fix metadata. You can fix it by adding markers to templates and adding templates to files.
• You can see a list of files missing machine-readable information on your wiki.

Problems

• Developers fixed a security problem. If you use Internet Explorer 6, you won't be able to log in any more. You should use a newer browser. [140]

Software changes this week

• The new version of MediaWiki will now come to Wikipedia sites every Wednesday, instead of every Thursday. [147]

Recent software changes

• The "Special:Cite" page is now called "Special:CiteThisPage". That way, you know it's to cite the page, not to add a reference. [154]
• You can no longer use the insource: keyword for text searches. It caused issues with the new search tool. It will come back later. [155] [156]

Problems

• There was a bug in VisualEditor with Internet Explorer. It hid tools like the link editor when you opened them. The bug was fixed on Monday. [157]
• Issues with the new search tool caused geo data code to show up on pages on Monday and Friday. The mobile "nearby" tool was also broken. The problem is now fixed. [158] [159] [160]
• HHVM caused server issues on Thursday. They are now fixed.

Software changes this week

• The new version of MediaWiki (1.25wmf5) has been on test wikis and MediaWiki.org since October 29. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis from November 4, and on all Wikipedias from November 5 (calendar).
• Some wikis have icons at the top of a page to show if it is protected or featured. Icons show up using CSS. You can now use the <indicator> tag in these templates instead to add the icons. [161] [162]
• VisualEditor now tells you if you're editing a re-used reference. This helps you avoid changing it if you just want to add a new one. [163]
• The icons in VisualEditor's template editor tool for adding more fields are back, along with other fixes. [164] [165] [166] [167] [168]
• After November 6, all wikis will have the tool to edit TemplateData. [169] [170] [171]

Future changes

• The new search tool will come to the last wikis in the coming weeks. This includes Wikipedia in French, Chinese, German and English. [172]

Recent software changes

• You may see a new tool on the mobile site of the English Wikipedia. It asks simple questions to make the article better. In the future, your answers will go to Wikidata. [173] [174]
• The MediaWiki API now shows information in a nice format. You can translate it in translatewiki.net. [175]

File information cleanup

• Reminder: You can help fix file information on your wiki. It will help robots understand the information. After that, it will be easier for you to search files and re-use them.
• You can join two IRC chats this week to learn more about the file cleanup project. One will be on Wednesday at 18:00 (UTC) and the other on Thursday at 04:00 (UTC). You can ask questions during the chat if you need help to fix files on your wiki.
• You can see a list of files to fix on the Labs tool. You can report bugs and ask questions on the talk page.

Problems

• Wikimedia Labs was broken for a few hours on Thursday. It was due to a hardware problem. [176]

Software changes this week

• The new version of MediaWiki (1.25wmf7) has been on test wikis and MediaWiki.org since November 5. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis from November 11, and on all Wikipedias from November 12 (calendar).
• You can now use more editing tools for tables in VisualEditor. You can add rows and columns, merge cells, and edit table captions. [177] [178]
• The style and insert menus in the toolbar of VisualEditor now show fewer tools. This helps you see the most common tasks. You can see all items by clicking "More". [179]
• The way windows inside VisualEditor work has changed. VisualEditor should be faster and have fewer bugs. [180]

Move from Bugzilla to Phabricator

• The tool to track bugs will change on November 21.
• You won't be able to add or edit bugs between November 21 and November 24.

Recent changes

• The move from Bugzilla to Phabricator is done. You can now report bugs in Phabricator. [183]

Problems

• There was a problem when editing tables in VisualEditor. VisualEditor was trying to fix bad values for the colspan or rowspan option. VisualEditor now leaves the bad values to avoid making things worse. This was fixed on November 17. [184]

Software changes this week

• The new version of MediaWiki (1.25wmf9) has been on test wikis and MediaWiki.org since November 19. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis from November 25, and on all Wikipedias from November 26 (calendar).
• You will be able to try VisualEditor on many new wikis for the first time. After November 26, VisualEditor will become available on Wikidata, Wikiquote, Wikibooks, Wikiversity, Wikivoyage, and Wikinews wikis. You can find it in your Beta options. [185]
• VisualEditor now tells you if your edit needs to be approved. [186]
• You can now use VisualEditor's tools directly when you resume editing after closing the save window. [187]

  • The sitelink section has been reworked. This will go live on Wikidata on Tuesday. The sitelinks will then be slimmer and they will appear in a sidebar on the right side if there is enough space.
  • More performance improvements when parsing an item page, ~%15 faster for some pages :)
  • Titan was selected as the graph DB to implement a Wikidata query service running in production
  • Fixed adding links to ru.wikinews.org which was broken by its change to HTTPS-only
  • Worked on redesigning the header area (label, description, alias, in-other-languages box)
  • Polished d:Wikidata:Data access and d:Wikidata:Database download. Could still use some more work though if you have time.
  • Enabled PHP_CodeSniffer with Mediawiki rules and some additional ones to make us aware of more code issues
  • We no longer log some common 404 errors in the exception log

Recent software changes

• Rotated PDF files in landscape format used to show too small. They will now display correctly. You may need to purge older files. [217]
• You can now use the {{!}} magic word instead of Template:!. Many wikis used the template to create a pipe (|) in tables and templates. You can delete the template. [218]

Software changes this week

• The new version of MediaWiki (1.25wmf14) has been on test wikis and MediaWiki.org since January 7. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis from January 13. It will be on all Wikipedias from January 14 (calendar).
• A bug in VisualEditor sometimes added a ☀ (Sun) character. This is now fixed. [219]
• The search and replace tool in VisualEditor is now much faster in long pages. [220]
• The TemplateData editor now uses the same design as VisualEditor. [221] [222] [223]
• The thumb option is now shown in your language in the help of the classic editor toolbar. [224]

Future changes

Arbitrary access is being tested at Test Wikidata and testwiki:Test Wiki. An example is at testwiki:Kitten on arbitrary page.
  • Assigning items on Mix'n'match will now make that change on Wikidata for you automatically

Recent changes

• You can download the new version of the Wikipedia app for Android. The new version shows lead images, better galleries and content from Wikidata. It also has many other new features.[226] [227]
• Programs and bots still can't read information about images on many wikis. You can see the list of wikis with the most files to fix. Wikipedia in Italian, Indonesian and Japanese language have the most files to fix. On the biggest wikis you should use bots. Bots can add information templates to groups of files. You can ask other tech users to help you.

Problems

• All JavaScript on Commons was broken for a few minutes on Tuesday. It was because of old code in the HotCat tool. The same problem happened on some Wikipedias on Wednesday. It is now fixed. [228]

• The new version of MediaWiki has been on test wikis and MediaWiki.org since January 14. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis from February 3. It will be on all Wikipedias from February 4 (calendar).
• The "Save page" button in the VisualEditor toolbar is now blue rather than green. This is the same as on the mobile site. [235]
• You can now edit pages on the draft namespace with VisualEditor on the Russian Wikipedia and Hebrew Wikipedia. You can ask to get VisualEditor for a namespace on your wiki. When your community agrees, ask in Phabricator. [236] [237]

Recent software changes

• You can now use {{#lsth: PageName | SectionName }} to transclude a section with its title. [238]

Problems

• MediaWiki was reverted to the previous version on February 4. It was because of a performance issue. It was restored later. [239]
• UploadWizard was broken on February 4 because of the revert of MediaWiki. [240]
• All sites were broken for 30 minutes on February 5. It was due to a network problem. [241]

Software changes this week

• The new version of MediaWiki has been on test wikis and MediaWiki.org since February 5. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis from February 10. It will be on all Wikipedias from February 11 (calendar).
• You can have one user page for all wikis. Your Meta user page will show if you don't have a user page on a wiki. You can test this tool on test wikis. [242] [243] [244]
• You can search for media files in VisualEditor more easily. Images are bigger and you see the size and license. [245] [246]
• It is easier to review your changes when you save the page in VisualEditor. The window is wider. [247]
• You can read the latest news about VisualEditor. You can now join weekly meetings with developers. During the meetings you can tell developers which bugs are the most important. The first meeting is on February 11 at 20:00 (UTC).

Future changes

• Administrators will soon be able to delete change tags used fewer than 5,000 times. [248]
• In the future you will be able to have personal lists of articles on the mobile site. [249]

  • We'll spend the next week working with Nik and Stas from WMF to move queries forward in Berlin
  • Worked on implementing a Lua interface for arbitrary Snak rendering. This can be used to render eg. qualifiers or references in Wikipedia infoboxes.
  • Did groundwork for Lua convenience functions that render data in the user’s interface language, rather than the content language (for multilingual wikis, like Commons or Wikidata only)
  • Did further work on making the Lua interface code nicer and share code with the parser functions
  • Removed input method selector in the sitelink input as it was hiding the actual input and not very useful there
  • Fixed some issues in diff views showing new data instead of old data
  • Created a few scripts to make it easier for 3rd parties to install Wikibase

Software changes this week

• The new version of MediaWiki has been on test wikis and MediaWiki.org since February 11. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis from February 17. It will be on all Wikipedias from February 18 (calendar).
• On Wednesday your Meta user page will be shown if you don't have a user page on a wiki. [250] [251] [252]
• You can now change the order of categories in VisualEditor using drag-and-drop. [253]
• In VisualEditor, you now need to make a change before you can "Apply Changes" to citations and templates. [254]
• The way the cursor moves in VisualEditor is changing. Your browser now handles the cursor directly. Most of you will see no change. In right-to-left text, the cursor now moves in a 'visible' rather than 'logical' way. This is like other sites but you may be surprised at first. [255]

Meetings

• The VisualEditor Team had their first public bug triage meeting on February 11. They will post the results on the meeting page. [256]
• You can join the second weekly meeting with the VisualEditor team. During the meetings you can tell developers which bugs are the most important. The meeting will be on February 18 at 16:00 (UTC). See how to join. [257]
• You can join a meeting with the developers of the Content Translation tool. It will be on February 18 at 13:00 (UTC). [258]

Future changes

• You can comment on a proposal about abandoned Labs tools.

Recent software changes

• All new accounts are now global. [259]
• Your Meta user page is now shown if you don't have a user page on a wiki. You can report problems if you see any. You can ask a bot to delete your old user pages. [260] [261] [262]

Software changes this week

• The new version of MediaWiki has been on test wikis and MediaWiki.org since February 18. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis from February 25. It will be on all Wikipedias from February 26 (calendar).
• It is now easier to see template fields in VisualEditor. The fields are bigger. [263]
• It is now easier to see when a button is disabled in VisualEditor. [264]
• Sometimes when you copy-pasted a template in VisualEditor, it was replaced by HTML. This problem is now fixed. [265]
• Tools in Labs will stop working for a few hours on February 24. [266]

Meetings

Future changes

مرحبا حلموني، في الحقيقة هناك قصة حب سرية بيننا وقد تولعنا ببعضنا . البوابة تقريبا جاهزة ألقي نظرة عليها، لأعطائي بعض الملاحظات الدقيقة والجميلة لبراعتك في هذا المجال. كيف عرفت أنها أكثر بوابة مطلوبة، هل لديك شئ تعتمد عليه. بالنسبة لتصنيفات البوابات فلا أعتمد على اي نسخة غير لعربية فقط هي ترتيب على مبدأ أما الأشرطة لكوني لا أرى فائدة من ربطها بلغات أخرى الا لو توافر الرابط المقابل لانه الوقت. عموما أعتمد في الربط على المقال الانجليزي ان وجد، لكن الفرنسي يمكن ان يسقط مني سهوا او قهرا هنا او هناك. شكرا لك حلموني، اتمنى لك وقتا ممتعا. --Khaled (نقاش) 23:25، 26 فبراير 2015 (ت ع م)

بالتاكيد بالنسبة للم، فقد حسمت منذ سنوات عندما طرحت نقاش حولها يا صديقي حلموني منذ سنوات وكانت النتيجة منعها وهذا جيد. بالمناسبة هل ما زالت ممنوعة وتحتاج الى تصويت. انا لا أنظر كثيرا الى البوابات في الويكيات الاخرى واحاول ان اكون جريئا وان يكون لنا طابعنا الخاص، لكني كلما تيسر سوف اقوم بالربط وسوف ارى النتيجة بعد ان تنجزها وساحكم عليك. انا كان لدي خطة للقضاء على البوابات قيد التنفيذ، لكني عكفت على توحيد معايير البوابات، فباشرت بوضع مجموة من التصاميم بدأت بالإطارات ومرت على العناوين ووصلت للبراويز. وقربت ان ابدا ببوابة توثيق كل هذا العمل وتكون دليل للمبتدئين وللمتقدمين على الحد السواء ومحاولة لتوحيد المعايير. ما رايك هل الأمر يستحق. بالمناسبة أنظر هنا هل ترى شيئا جيدا. --Khaled (نقاش) 12:43، 27 فبراير 2015 (ت ع م)

مرحبا! أعتذر عن تأخر الرد بسبب انشغالي في الحياة الواقعية. بوابة رياضة هي بوابة شاملة لكل الرياضات (كرة القدم و كرة السلة و كرة اليد...) و لو انتبهت إلى عداد المقالات المتعلقة بالرياضة ستجده الآن فقط أكثر من 000 1 مقالة فقط و بينما قبل أن تزيل التصنيف كان حوالي 000 8 مقالة لأن في الأصل بوابة رياضة هي نفسها تحتوي على كل بوابة رياضية و بالتالي كل مقالة تتعلق بإحدى هذه البوبات فضمنيا هي تتعلق بوابة رياضة . و التصنيف(تصنيف:بوابة رياضة/مقالات متعلقة) الذي وضعته في كل شريط هذه البوبات كان بمثابة الطريقة الوحيدة لذلك. بالمناسبة صفحة أحدث التغييرات المرتبطة ببوابة رياضة لم تعد تحتوي على التغييرات المرتبطة مثلا بكرة القدم و التنس و كرة السلة و هو ما يشكل لي عائقا في مراقبة المقالات الرياضية إذ كنت أقوم بذلك إنطلاقا من وصلة "قائمة المراقبة" في بوابة رياضة لذلك رجاء من فضلك أن تسترجع تعديلاتك لأنه باختصار لم أضع هذا التصنيف عبثا بل لهدف معين و ذات فائدة. آسف على الإطالة لكن لابد من التوضيح. و شكرا --تحياتي-- --Omar Arabic (راسلني) 12:11، 28 فبراير 2015 (ت ع م)

أهلين أخي، كيف حالك. فكرت في الأمر ووجدت بأن التصنيفات غير مفيدة لأنك لا تجد تصنيفا يضم كل الشركات وإنما شبكة من التصنيفات التي تضم مقالات أيضا لا علاقة مباشرة بالشركات. أما عن استغلال المرادف الانجليزي أو الفرنسي، فالأمر يتطلب توسيع الاستغلال وعدم اقتصاره على بوابة الشركات حتى يصبح ذا جدوى لأنك عندما تبحث من بين 22 ألف شركة (مثلما هو حال الويكي الفرنسي)، فلا أعتقد بأنني سأجد ربع هذا العدد من المقالات العربية.

• You can now create books on almost all wikis. It doesn't work yet on wikis using the language converter. [279] [280]
• VisualEditor had problems with categories in Safari. It sometimes moved or removed the categories. The issue is now fixed. [281] [282] [283]

Changes this week

• The new version of MediaWiki has been on test wikis and MediaWiki.org since March 4. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis from March 10. It will be on all Wikipedias from March 11 (calendar).
• In VisualEditor the "Edit ^beta" button is now called "Edit" on the English Wikipedia. [284] [285]
• The feedback tool in VisualEditor now looks like the other tools. It also asks for information about your browser to help fix bugs. [286] [287]
• You now see the VisualEditor toolbar even if the rest of the page is still loading. [288] [289]
• You now see more information when you edit a link, a reference or other items in VisualEditor. You also see a clearer edit button in those tools. [290] [291]
• If you use the ContentTranslation tool you now see red links in the list of articles in other languages. The link is red if the article doesn't exist in the language of your options or of your browser. You can translate the article by clicking on the red link.

Changes this week

• The new version of MediaWiki has been on test wikis and MediaWiki.org since March 18. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis from March 24. It will be on all Wikipedias from March 25 (calendar).
• The text of a reference is now more visible when you click on it. It has a blue background. Many wikis already have the blue color. Those wikis can now remove it from their CSS page. [307]
• VisualEditor is now much faster. For many users it is now at least as fast as the wikitext editor. [308] [309] [310]
• When you add a list of references in VisualEditor, you now see it right away. You can still change its group by editing it. [311]

  • Discussed how to move forward with identifiers. Outcome: They should get their own datatype. (phabricator:T95287)
  • Implemented arbitrary access for the {{#property:…}} parser function. This can be invoked on the wikis that have arbitrary access enabled by using {{#property:P123|from=Q42}}. So far this is only Wikidata itself.
  • Did further performance work on the client (Wikipedia and co) in preparation for arbitrary access
  • Improved the performance of wbgetentities significantly when loading a large number of entities
  • Wrote more browser tests for different datavalues

• Development
  • On Tuesday, we are deploying usage tracking (no arbitrary access yet) to Dutch Wikipedia and French Wikisource, and subscription tracking on Wikidata. There should be no noticeable changes for users. These are necessary steps towards enabling arbitrary access in clients.
  • Worked on making language fallback work in the suggester (when adding a new statement or searching for an item)
  • More work on RDF output and the query service
  • Added Special:RedirectEntity for redirecting items
  • Investigated and working to fix JS bug on items with “invalid” values (phabricator:92975)
  • Did work towards having entity ids in revision histories and in diffs linked with their label (like on watchlists or in the recentchanges)

Changes this week

• The new version of MediaWiki has been on test wikis and MediaWiki.org since April 22. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis from April 28. It will be on all Wikipedias from April 29 (calendar).
• It is now clearer that you can delete several rows and columns when you edit tables in VisualEditor. [370]
• You now see more information when you search for a template in VisualEditor. [371]
• You can now cancel when you add citations on desktop, or edit links on mobile, in VisualEditor. [372]
• You can now see the list of other formats for videos only after they're ready. [373]

Support request with team editing experiment project

Dear tech ambassadors, instead of spamming the Village Pump of each Wikipedia about my tiny project proposal for researching team editing (see here: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:IdeaLab/Research_team_editing), I have decided to leave to your own discretion if the matter is relevant enough to inform a wider audience already. I would appreciate if you could appraise if the Wikipedia community you are more familiar with could have interest in testing group editing "on their own grounds" and with their own guidance. In a nutshell: it consists in editing pages as a group instead of as an individual. This social experiment might involve redefining some aspects of the workflow we are all used to, with the hope of creating a more friendly and collaborative environment since editing under a group umbrella creates less social exposure than traditional "individual editing". I send you this message also as a proof that the Inspire Campaign is already gearing up. As said I would appreciate of *you* just a comment on the talk page/endorsement of my project noting your general perception about the idea. Nothing else. Your contribution helps to shape the future!   • The students team is working hard to get a first release of the improved constraint reports and checks against 3rd party databases out.
  • Ricordisamoa fixed the issue with long descriptions being cut off.
  • We fixed the focus flow in the property selector.
  • We improved the messages on Special:EntityData to make it more understandable.
