Dr. Hammam Yahya, a Palestinian psychiatrist, researcher in thought and philosophy, and also he is an author and poet. He currently serves as the Executive Director of Mental Health at the University of New Mexico and an Associate Professor at the same university. in 2021 he received the “Milton Rosenbaum Award”, given to faculty members in the Department of Psychiatry who best exemplify productivity and creativity. He has many meetings and interviews on Al Jazeera، Al Arabiya TV, Fenjan Podcast, and other digital channels, in addition to many lectures at Arab and international universities and conferences. Dr. Hammam have many academic certificates as follows: [5]

  1. He studied for his Bachelor’s degree in دكتور في الطب (MD) at the University of Jordan, in 2010.
  1. Completed a 4-year adult psychiatry residency at the University of New Mexico.
  1. He obtained the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in 2018.
  1. He was awarded a fellowship from the American Psychoanalytic Association.
  1. Executive MBA, 2023.

His work experience

Dr. Hammam has diverse teaching experience in several countries around the world, where he began working as a lecturer at the Arab American University in جنين (مدينة)، Palestine in 2011. He then moved to work as a doctor in Doctors Without Borders in عمان (مدينة)، الأردن, between 2013 and 2014.

Then, specifically in 2018, he moved to work in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of New Mexico, USA, and his roles varied, as he held the positions of “Medical Director of Inpatient Services for Adults” and then “Quality and Safety Officer for Behavioral Services for Adults”, and he settled as “Executive Director of Behavioral Health Services” and Associate Professor at the University of New Mexico Hospitals.
