Tool of the week

• User:Teester/EntityShape.js - a userscript that adds an input box to a Wikidata page wherein you can enter an EntitySchema (such as E10). When you click "Check", checks whether each statement and property conforms to the schema. It then displays a summary at the top of the Item for each property indicating whether they conform or not. It also adds a badge to each statement and each property on the page indicating whether they conform or not.

U4C Special Election - Call for Candidates

Hello all,

A special election has been called to fill additional vacancies on the U4C. The call for candidates phase is open from now through July 19, 2024.

The Universal Code of Conduct Coordinating Committee (U4C) is a global group dedicated to providing an equitable and consistent implementation of the UCoC. Community members are invited to submit their applications in the special election for the U4C. For more information and the responsibilities of the U4C, please review the U4C Charter.

In this special election, according to chapter 2 of the U4C charter, there are 9 seats available on the U4C: four community-at-large seats and five regional seats to ensure the U4C represents the diversity of the movement. No more than two members of the U4C can be elected from the same home wiki. Therefore, candidates must not have English Wikipedia, German Wikipedia, or Italian Wikipedia as their home wiki.

• User:Magnus Manske/ac2wd.js - This script adds an "AC2WD" link in the tools sidebar. When you click on it, it uses the AC2WD tool to check the item for certain Authority Control IDs (eg VIAF). It then checks these AC datasets for statements (and more AC IDs). It will then add any new information it found as new statements, or add more references to existing statements where possible. Hello! Greetings from Denmark!

All files must have a valid license per wmf:Resolution:Licensing_policy and if they do not they should be deleted. It seem that the files generally does have a license so that is great!

If the files are licensed freely they also need a source (where does the file come from?) and an author (who made the file?). In most cases there is a source and author so that is also great.

In some cases files seem to be uploaded with a permission. For example File:Inside Qashqai tent.jpg, File:محميات 2.JPG and File:Serabit 1.jpg. For cases like that a permission should be send to the VRT-system (see c: Commons:Volunteer Response Team). Does ar.wikipedia have such a system? If not a solution could be to ask uploaders to use the system on Commons.

I know it is a big job to check all files but if a few users look at خاص:ملفات_غير_مستخدمة then it should be possible to check many files in a shot time:

• Good files could be exported to Commons and deleted locally (good meaning usable and copyright etc. is okay).
• Files with copyright issues could be deleted unless uploader is still active and able to fix it. For example why is File:هيبون3.jpg licensed {{PD-self}} + has a wartermark? Here uploader مستخدم:عبد الغني السلفي is still active and can clarify. But in other cases uploader is not active.
• Low res/quality files could be deleted.
• Non-free files should be deleted if not in use. So File:Battlestadiumdon.jpg should go if not added to an article.
