English: Vase in the shape of a bird. 3500-3200 BCE. Egypt, prehistoric necropolis of Khozam (15 km north of Luxor), Culture of Naqada II, early Naqada III. Painted terracotta. Painted decoration: the boat represented on the left flank "prefigures the pharaonic boats which transported the deceased in the beyond" (museum cartel). On the back, flamingos seem identifiable. They appear on other vases of the same period. Musée des Confluences, Lyon. Inv. 90000108
Français : Vase en forme d'oiseau. 3500-3200 AEC. Égypte, nécropole préhistorique de Khozam (15 km au nord de Louxor),Culture de Nagada II, début Nagada III. Terre cuite peinte. Décor peint : le bateau représenté sur le flanc gauche "préfigure les barques pharaoniques qui transportaient les défunts dans l'au-delà" (cartel du musée). Sur le dos des flamants semblent identifiables. Ils apparaissent sur d'autres vases de la même période. Musée des Confluences, Lyon. Inv. 90000108 |
